Beach Cafe – reclaimed wood
Handmade miniature wooden model of a typical beach café. Made from reclaimed wood
I was inspired to make this beach café after a visit to Brancaster in Norfolk. Right at the entrance to the beach is a café selling teas, coffees and of course ice creams. Further down the slipway to the golden beach are huge boulders on either side, perfect for sitting on watching the waves and eating ice cream. Not included in this model, Brancaster also has a box full of tennis balls for dogs to play with whilst there, all they ask is that you return the balls for the next dogs to use. This box of balls is in memory of a dog who has sadly passed, who loved to play ball on the beach. Another quirky thing about Brancaster is that the car park gets flooded when the tide comes in so you need to be aware of the times. The parking attendant has a little caravan sat high on bricks to keep it out of the water. If you are ever Brancaster way, it is worth a visit.
This model is made using reclaimed wood, paint from the restore charity shop, the’ boulders’ are actually stones from my garden and the gravel is also from my garden. The tiny shells are real and are a mix of some I found beachcombing somewhere in Norfolk and also from a container full that I found in a local charity shop.
I hope you agree that this little beach café is typical of many around the coastline.

I have enjoyed crafting for many years and love upcycling or recycling items saving them from landfill, and giving them a new purpose in life. In particular I use fabric from clothing items I have purchased from local charity shops, meaning the charities benefit as well.
The amount of plastic used in the retail industry also has me concerned. Things like fruit, veg etc. Most of which Mother Nature has provided with its own protective coat so whenever possible I choose plastic free from our local market place.
My packaging may not look very pretty but it will be either recycled or reused and where necessary will contain environmentally friendly bubble wrap (green coloured), please feel free to re use again.
