Church View – ‘thatched’ cottage, reclaimed wood
Wooden mock thatch cottage with garden. Made from reclaimed wood
Church View is typical of many sweet thatched cottages in the town I live in. All individual with bags of charm. I’ve made Church View from reclaimed wood and mounted it onto a piece of wood found in the garage. I’ve painted everything using the paint I bought from our local Restore (Charity shop that mixes and resells donated paints). The thatch is achieved by using hessian fabric and trimmings left over from another project. The winter ‘trees’ and bushes are twigs and seed heads that I have gathered on one of my many walks in the park opposite where I live. The chimney pot is an old nail I found in the garage.

I have enjoyed crafting for many years and love upcycling or recycling items saving them from landfill, and giving them a new purpose in life. In particular I use fabric from clothing items I have purchased from local charity shops, meaning the charities benefit as well.
The amount of plastic used in the retail industry also has me concerned. Things like fruit, veg etc. Most of which Mother Nature has provided with its own protective coat so whenever possible I choose plastic free from our local market place.
My packaging may not look very pretty but it will be either recycled or reused and where necessary will contain environmentally friendly bubble wrap (green coloured), please feel free to re use again.
