Eco friendly calico tote bag, shoulder straps, Sugar Skull and Roses
Eco friendly re-usable shopping bag, perfect to keep folded in your bag or in the car. Made from 100% cotton calico. Can be used again and again unlike plastic bags.
Sugar Skull with yellow roses – Very useful shopping or storage bag, perfect for keeping in your handbag, glovebox, office desk drawer etc. Made from 100% cotton Calico which is cream in colour. I have machine embroidered the hare and to add a little subtle detail, I have hand painted the design. The Sugar Skull design has been machine embroidered onto the front of the bag. I love the fact that the handles are longer giving you the option of carrying heavier shopping, books etc over your shoulder. Can also be used for keeping current craft projects handy or maybe a book bag, etc, it has a multitude of uses.
A little info re Sugar Skulls……….. These are not scary or morbid as people may imagine. There is a celebratory reason for their existence – In Mexico on the 1st and 2nd November every year, they hold a celebration called ‘The Year of the Dead’, on these days Mexicans celebrate the life of relatives who have passed during the year. They lay out decorated tables with plates of their relatives favorite foods and amongst other decorations, also place highly decorated sugar skulls. Traditionally the 1st is for children who have passed and the 2nd for the adults.
Calico is not machine washable as it has a tendency to shrink, therefore I recommend you gently spot/sponge wash it if necessary. Calico is also a natural product and therefore may have tiny specks of other natural colours from the production procedures.

I have enjoyed crafting for many years and love upcycling or recycling items saving them from landfill, and giving them a new purpose in life. In particular I use fabric from clothing items I have purchased from local charity shops, meaning the charities benefit as well.
The amount of plastic used in the retail industry also has me concerned. Things like fruit, veg etc. Most of which Mother Nature has provided with its own protective coat so whenever possible I choose plastic free from our local market place.
My packaging may not look very pretty but it will be either recycled or reused and where necessary will contain environmentally friendly bubble wrap (green coloured), please feel free to re use again.
